Attribute Pricing Changes with Sale Price-WRONG!

I have searched the threads but can not seem to find what I am looking for. I carry products in my store that have different sizes. The larger the size, the more expensive it is. For instance, I have a product selling for $36.99 and I put it on sale for 20% off, making it a price of $29.99.

Now, the base price is for a Small. For a Medium size, the extra charge is $3.00, Large is $7.50 and X-Large is $10.50. When I went to check to see the product "on sale" I noticed that the attribute pricing went on sale as well!! The Medium is now only $2.84 extra, the large is $6.08 and the x-large is $8.51. That should not be. The pricing for the larger sizes must remain the same, whether the product is on sale or not. What am I doing incorrectly? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

Has anyone figured out a solution for this problem? I am having the same problem. I create a 'special' price for a product but it also affects the price of an attribute related to the product which I don't want.

Other than just changing the price in the Categories/Catalog/Products area is there a way to create a special price for a product without it affecting the attributes separate special price?

Mark the Attribute to not include the Special or the Sale:

No Yes

Thanks for the update that the pricing options on the Attributes were able to help you control if Specials and Sales applied or not to the Attributes that were applied to the Product ...

I noticed something else related ...

I setup a Special discount on an item (item was priced with an up-charge Attribute). When I added it to the Cart, it was still full price.

I found this thread and applied this fix because I didn't want the Attributes discounted, just the main item. But oddly, my item still wasn't being discounted.

What I had to do to make it work:
After I initially setup the special, go into the Price Manager, and be sure this is set:
Priced by Attributes: No

Then the Special discount started working. Works whether the selected attribute is $0 or $50. Your fix takes care of the rest.

It's one year later and I found this post relating to my problem, but I have the opposite one. I want my attributes discounted, and have them checked as such in the attributes controller, but they are not discounted:

Are you using Specials or Sales for the discount?

Are your Products set with a Price?

Are your Products set with a Price of 0.00 and marked as Priced by Attribute?

What version of Zen Cart are your running?

Is this a Clean Install or an Upgrade?

I dont see that the original author responded so Linda Ill reply since Im having this problem too.

My item is priced at 0.00 and set to priced by attribute. I have tried both salemaker and special price. ZC version is v1.3.8 [2009-09-08 15:47:02] (Fresh Installation)

Atributes prices will not discount.
