Default select from list of shipping desintation?

I need to mod my cart to allow customers to pick a known location from a list as the delivery destination -- rather than have them manually enter this third party address (to prevent typos, etc.). I still want them to be able to enter an address if they want to -- I just want to offer a list of static addresses to make things easier.

Does anyone know how to do this? I've tried searching the forums, but either this has never been done before or I'm not using the right search terms.

Do you mean you need multiple Store Pick ups?

What is the purpose of the customer entering an address for the delivery or do you mean you are trying to say:

1 ship it to me at ...

2 I will pick it up at store 1, store 2, etc.

    The standard shipping options are:
    1. Use the billing address as the shiping address
    2. Enter a different shipping address (i.e., "I'll enter my work address", or "This is a gift and I want it to ship to the recipient")

I want to offer a third option there there is a drop down list of possible shipping addresses that the customer can pick from, but not edit... so that the part is shipped to a repair shop. Then the customer just has to ship their damaged machine to the shop, and the part will ship directly from me to the shop without the customer having to touch it...

    does that make sense?

    Interesting concept ...

I have not seen anything like this for managing select addresses for the customer to choose from ...

    Ajeh,
your mention of store pick-ups makes me wonder if I can hack that option for the repair shop...

    are multiple store pickups possible?

You can create as many shipping modules as you like and customize them to run in any manner that you prefer ...

Store Pickup storepickup can be cloned or Flat Rate flat could be cloned for this and just change the language files for each store so that they read properly ...

The idea here is something that identifies to you and to the customer what happens on shipping and whether or not there is a charge ...

All the code cares about is that a valid selection is made ...

Be aware that Store Pickup storepickup is designed to specifically never be the default shipping module as managed in the shipping class ...
