    Default Extremely Slow Site

    Hey all,

I'm suffering from a ridiculous speed problem with my Zen Cart. My suspicions are that I have way too many products and too many categories. How do I run server tests to check the number of queries that my site is running?

For reference, the website is http://www.bilingualpublications.com/products

Looks like a slow server as there are shops with much more in the way of products & categories that are fast

You can enable the parse times to display in the footer and this is an indication of how long the server is taking to assemble the page

Yeah, I think you are right. I displayed the parse time, to which I received information along these lines:

    Parse Time: 0.434 - Number of Queries: 1368 - Query Time: 0.13815483815

As I've located this Zen Cart on WebHostingBuzz, I'm going to try to transfer the information to my own HostMonster server, which I believe is Zen Cart certified.

Thank you for your help thus far.

    Hey, all.

I'm wondering if someone could please view the site for themselves, tour a few categories and items, and provide some sort of diagnosis on this Zen Cart. If not, could someone point me in the direction of diagnosing this problem?

To detail, I've over 2,000 products in my Zen Cart, some 100+ different categories and subcategories, and I'm using extra databases included with the Moku Books Mod. On my HostMonster version of the site, I receive this warning:

1104 The SELECT would examine more than MAX_JOIN_SIZE rows; check your WHERE and use SET SQL_BIG_SELECTS=1 or SET SQL_MAX_JOIN_SIZE=# if the SELECT is okay
    in:
    [select book_authors_name, book_authors_nickname, a.book_authors_id from book_authors a, book_authors_info ad, books_to_authors b where b.products_id = '2122' and b.book_authors_id = a.book_authors_id and a.book_authors_id = ad.book_authors_id and ad.language_id = '1' and ad.language_id = b.language_idta and ad.language_id = a.language_ida order by book_authors_name]

My WebHostingBuzz service, the original location of the site, the site simply doesn't finish loading when I go to a category page or product page. After a few minutes, I can reload the page, and the page loads. But this doesn't last for long.

ocarina - Your site is plenty fast here except when navigating from the product listing or search result to a product info page. Then the query times are ~6 seconds.

Sorry, I don't know what that means, but it might be a clue for someone who does.

    Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone has a solution for these long parse times? I tested my site and it is way too slow, it simply isn't usable at these speeds... Only 261 Queries took nearly 8 seconds!

Wordpress runs fine and so do other MYSQL powered applications...

    Cable Modem: 756k + down
    Server: Debian
    PHP: 5

    Test 1 - Product page
    Parse Time: 7.993 - Number of Queries: 261 - Query Time: 0.997969666733

    Test 2 - Home page
    Parse Time: 10.636 - Number of Queries: 488 - Query Time: 2.4093903784

    Test 3 - Home page
    Parse Time: 4.217 - Number of Queries: 487 - Query Time: 0.595940332184

Once the store is loaded the times go down quite a bit but still seem way to slow to me...

Test Avg - Product pages (they were all about the same)
    Parse Time: 1.901 - Number of Queries: 269 - Query Time: 0.554883180206

I have applied all of the speed up tricks I could find in the forum such as turning off the IP address etc...

Any idea why is this so slow?

    Thanks,

    Gary777

    Hi Kim,

    This is a test store...

    Thanks

    Gary

PS: the parse times are at the bottom, use your mouse and left click while dragging from right to left to highlight the parse times.
