Problem with common html_header.php -- same line altered by 2 contributions

I am trying to develop a contribution based on the Comodo Trust Logo contribution, which I updated.
This one is very similar, only that instead of the Comodo logo, it displays a credit cards logo.
The problem is that both use the same modified common html_header.php.
The original author added a line that checks for SSL and sends to the appropriate external website.
Now, I cannot make these two contribs. work at the same time because both invoke the same line in the common file.
For example, in the right column only the one with precedence (lower sort order number) will work, but when changing the sort order, the other one will work.
Is there a way to separate this?
The Comodo contrib. is freely available for download from ZC, if you unzip it you will understand better what I mean.
I am now working on an updated Comodo contrib for 1.3.8a, which will correct some untidy messes, like too many readmes, pardon my dust.

We have no problem with using their code for the corner logo and prefer it to a box. Don't know if you were aware of that option.
add image and insert code in two files.
