Will the upgrade from 1.2x to 1.3x help

I have a zen cat installed. the version is 1.2x the user complains that the web site is very slow. Both the front end and the back end.

if I upgrade the web site from 1.2x to 1.3x will the site become faster or not.

Please suggest.

What exact version do you have?

Try turning on the parse times to display in the footer and record several page loads....These should be less than 2 sec's and preferably sub-second.

Admin > config > logging > Display The Page Parse Time > true

Refresh
Parse Time: 20.166 - Number of Queries: 252 - Query Time: 18.480621786179

Most of this is mysql Query time and indicates that the server is not optimized for Database intensive operation....

Can anyone tell me what highest version of zencart can we upgrade to without php 5??? And from where to download this zencart version.

Please this is really urgent.

The latest version can be operated on php 4.x and it available in the download link on the home page of this site
