    1. From whom did you buy the template? If a Template Monster template, you could have some work ahead of you.

    2. You should compare the core files of the template, with the core files of template_default 1.3.8a (using Winmerge or similar) and make changes as appropriate. Much may depend on how the CSS is structured - I know TM adds huge swathes of styles, and this can make your life difficult!

The only way to tell if your new template deviates from similar core files in 1.3.8a is to run WINMERGE, allowing it to make comparisons between files in your template, and files in template_default off zc 1.3.8a.

Winmerge will alert you to differences, then you can use your judgement to see if the differences are likely to cause problems or not.

I trust you have downloaded a copy of ZC 1.3.8a...

... to see what has been changed since 1.3.7, look in the "docs" folder and read the relevant changelog file(s).

It really depends where you bought the Template from. Some 3rd party Templates are coded well and some are not. If you know for a fact you did not purchase it from Template Monster then you may not have any problems at all.

Easiest way to find out is to upload the Template and switch over to it. Compare it with the default Classic Template if run into any problems; or have your Template recoded to work properly.
