I guess if it won't work with your server, maybe leaving it off is best. But if you haven't tested it since overcoming the misuse of the proxy server, you might want to try it again.

No, it's not. The delay sounds like it's coming from PayPal's end.

Best to use the fix, since you may need the CURL proxy for other services.

I have a similar problem, but I don't believe it to be an issue with the Paypal IPN.

An order came in on my website, was processed, got transferred to Paypal, payment was received, and the IPN was sent back to my website. The IPN was working correctly except that my website had no order to match the IPN to.

Somewhere in this process, the original order on my website was either not recorded or overwritten by another order. I checked the orders table in my ZC database and there is no record of that particular order. All orders at the time this missing order was placed show that there is no break in the sequential numbering within the Orders table.

So this one customers order just disappeared from Zen Cart. This is the first and only time this has happened or that I am aware of. The customer's registration information and last login/access is recorded in the ZC db, but no order. I know that an order WAS placed thru my website because the Paypal IPN shows all the relevant ID numbers and information. And again, payment was received.

What could have caused this? Could this be a recurring problem?

Sounds like you might have the same problem I had. You need to do a few things to figure out where the problem is coming from.

    1. Go to www.yoursite.com/ipn_main_handler.php and see what it says. If there are an errors listed there, let us know. If it says "Nothing to process. Please return to home page" then that part is ok.

    2. If you are using v1.3.8, go to www.yoursite.com/extras/ipncheck.php. It should respond with "IPN TESTING - Confirmation/Validation response: RESPONSE RECEIVED - Communications OKAY".

    3. Go to Admin>>My Store>>cURL Proxy Status turn to False then try to do a test payment using PayPal IPN. If it works, then this was the problem. If you only use IPN, you can get away with using this fix, but if you ever plan to use the other PayPal modules, you'd better use this fix instead.

If none of those option work, you will have to turn on the debugging mode, complete a test transaction, and post the results here for someone like DrByte to analyze. But please, try those options first.

I thank you for this terrific support site. I finally got my orders to show up... now I just have to find the work around for the ship-to problem.

If the product is virtual - and will not be shipped, how can you get around the problem with paypal that says the payment is unverified?

The Paypal module is looking for a ship to address - but the Zen checkout module won't ask for a ship to if I say that the item is virtual.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks a million!

Okey, i figured out what the error was.

I was also running the addon Store Credit and it was error when you went to complete the order, i believe that this error was also impacting on Paypal somehow, even though it didnt show the error at all when the order was completed with Paypal.

Default I found this in the Zen Cart Tutorial/FAQ...

    https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=28

"PayPal Website Payments Standard (formerly referred to as "PayPal IPN" in older versions of Zen Cart) takes the customer to PayPal's site AFTER the ENTIRE checkout in order to make payment. The customer can pay without having a PayPal account (depending on what country YOU are in ... PayPal limits that feature for some countries). After the payment is completed, your store is notified of the completed payment, after which time the order is stored in your database. If the customer pays without making a PayPal account and declines the invitation to make one, your store sits in limbo and never gets the order (due to a bug in PayPal's logic, which they've not fixed yet). If they DO have OR make a PayPal account, you get the notification and the order is stored in your database. **IF there is any problem in PayPal's ability to communicate to your server, you will never see the order, because it relies entirely on PayPal's server being able to talk to your server in order to store the order."

If this is indeed the problem, how do we fix it?
