strange, very strange: cookie don't work

If I setup configure.php with
define('STORE_SESSIONS', ' ');
so session is stored in file; in this way with ubuntu machine and latest release of firefox, after many pages read, the round circle of firefox go round, and round... and I can't see any other pages, until I clear the cookie of browser.
Instead if I setup configure.php with store session based on db, all work fine!
The problem is when store session is based on db, sometime site go crash because many query are create on db, and then I must use session based on file.
This problem don't apper on windows machine.
My website based on zencart 1.3.7

perhaps I found where is the problem: when I add additives to a product, not charging the full page, remains in loading, and from that moment, if I open the page on the main site, does not load the page.

Last my test: firefox on ubuntu, don't charge whole page attributes_controller.php
instead firefox on windows, charge whole page attributes_controller.php and don't create any type of problem!

ie

apache version

also when you experience the crash how many files are there in your session directory (by default this should be the cache directory)

you can get a quick and dirty count by using the following command inside the cache directory.

ls -l | grep -v ^l | wc -l
