How to Customize Shipping Cost

The store that we are setting up consist of groceries that would be delivered in a 15x15x11 box increment. We will be measuring all the items so that we can base the measurement of each item on how many would fit a 15x15x15 box. After this is already full then a new box will apply. We want to do this automatically while the customer is filling up the shopping cart.

Each box will have a fixed shipping cost no matter what the wight is and no mater how many items could fit in the box but it will have different pricing per location of delivery.

Example 1:
A customer orders 50 items and it fits one box and the customer chooses to deliver this in zone 1 which is $20. So the delivery charge would just be $20

Example 2:
A customer orders 75 items and the items does not fit one box so we have to add another box to make it two boxes. The customer wants this delivered in zone 2 which is $30. So the delivery charge should be $60.


Is this possible? If yes, please provide guidance on how we can implement this in ZenCart.

The default modules can be on items, weight or price - there is no default one for what you describe....

Either develop a alternate method using one of the default measures or this will take alot of custom coding

I have not looked at how much code would have to be developed for this but you can post in the "commercial help wanted" thread here and see who might take this on

It could be many hours of time resulting in 100's of $ and why I included "developing an alternate" using default measures
