Default What does the table "orders_id" do?

I upgraded to 1.3.8a and everything "seemed" fine. However, I noticed that the table "orders_id" is not updating with new orders since the upgrade. The table has 2 fields - orders_id and session_id, and it seemed to be adding all new orders before I upgraded, but now isn't.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    umm ... er ... there isn't a table called orders_id in Zen Cart ...

Perhaps you had a problem with an add-on or an import?

I'm sure he meant the orders_id field in the orders table.

Then ... there is a real problem if the orders table only has 2 fields ...

My bad! Ajeh, you're right, it's not in the normal Zen Cart install. Turns out it was created by an add-on called "External Order ID Generator" we were advised to install last year. When I upgraded Zen Cart to 1.3.8a and imported the sql file, orders_id obviously came along for the ride!

Question - this add-on was recommended by Dr. Byte last year to solve a problem we were having with duplicate order numbers. It solved the problem in the original 1.3.7 version, but now we need to know if 1.3.8a should have this add-on added to it as well, or was that problem fixed so I can uninstall it?

Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for the help!

There were improvements to the Authorize.net modules in 1.3.8 which generally prevent duplicate order IDs from being sent to the gateway.

It's up to you whether you want to use the EOID addon on the new version or not. You'd have to merge its features into the payment module, but if I recall correctly that's just a line or two to change.

That said, I don't recall any site using 1.3.8 that's needed to use the EOID addon.

We are using Zen Cart 1.38a and having the same problem as described above. So far less than 1% of the orders were affected by this problem. We are considering the implementation of the addon, but are there any known issues using the "External Order Number Generator" with 1.3.8a?
