Default have customer upload image for customization?

Hello, I am thinking about adding customized products to my website, is there a way for the customer to upload and image to me, (at the product page and then browse for the image and it will be sent to me)or any other suggestions on how I can do this.. Thank!

Create an Option Name with the Option Type of: File

Note: you do not create Option Values for this ...

Add the Attribute to the Product and select as the Option Value the:
TEXT [RESERVED FOR TEXT/FILES ONLY ATTRIBUTES]

The upload will then be found in the:
    /images/uploads

and it will be renamed to a number.ext this number will match the one listed on the Orders details ...

NOTE: the number will only "appear" to match the orders_id as a coincidence, this is not always the case ...

Check that you have the Option Name setup for TEXT and that you have highlighted that Option Name and the Option Value: TEXT [RESERVED FOR TEXT/FILES ONLY ATTRIBUTES]

    Hi again

Yes I hadn't done that but even now that I have I am just seeing an empty text entry box with the word File next to it. I guess I had expected to see an 'Upload' or 'browse' button to allow customers to browse their PC and upload the file needed. What am I still missing?

    I appreciate your help

If you want the customer to be able to do an Upload then you want to set the Option Name type as a File ... and when adding the Attribute pick the Option Name that you made and the TEXT [RESERVED FOR TEXT/FILES ONLY ATTRIBUTES] ...

Doh! , I miss-read your original instructions and created an option name of File instead of using File as the option type.

I was wondering why does zencart rename the uploaded file? Im trying to set up an upload area as well, and since im have the customer upload media files such as MP3 and WAV they need to be in ZIP format. When I test out the function it renames the ZIP file to a number like 1.zip.

Is there any way to maintain the name of the zip file the customer has labeled it?
In the shopping cart details it states the correct name of the file, but not in the uploads directory.

Fred and Harry want to upload the file:
    TheWayWeWere.mp3

Somebody is going to get overwritten ...

So ... the files are renamed by number.ext and reference the original filename in the database and on the order ...
