Default How to set up downloadable products?

I have 4 basic questions but my most pressing one is how or where do I upload my virtual products?

    1. I can upload an image for a new product but I cannot find anything anywhere for uploading the actual product.

2/3. Also, how do I turn ALL shipping elements OFF? I have zero shipping, none whatsover, everything is downloadable so I need to kill all references to shipping, in or out of stock etc.

    4. How do I link the logo to my actual homepage, as my cart is in a subdirectory?

    5. Can the green menu headers be color changed via CSS and if so which CSS file and where?

Answer me those and I'll be a very happy bunny.

Right now I'm a guy with an empty green store...

Have stumbled across how to make a product downloadable.

    3 things to say:

    Oh my God.

Well I guess if I were selling my videos with a few varieties of kitten warmer I would benefit greatly from the flexibility. I guess being able to offer my files as zips, .mov or in various colors is all manner of handy.

"Would Sir like his download small, large or medium and what is Sir's preferred color?"

Fact remains that is THE most ######-backward akward nightmare of a "downloadable: Y/N?" checkbox this planet ever had the misfortune of seeing.

Only a peep at the site via ftp revealed a download folder cunningly disguised to thwart even the wiliest of wily pirates under the mysterious folder name of "downloads".

I geddit, hide it where it's so obvious they won't look huh?

    Whatever.

Now according to the tutorial thing, I don't need to turn off no stiiinking shipping stuff as the script, after that long-winded attritube malarky, wisely knows this is a download, right?

    Great.

Now, how do I turn off the "Stock 0", as humans, gotta love em, tend to shy away from actually buying stuff that claims to be out of stock?

Or do I switch the stupidity factor from the customer to myself but declaring "1 copy in stock"?

As "the art of ecommerce" goes, this thing is missing an 'e'.

    Check stock level false
    Subtract stock true
    Allow Checkout true
Mark product out of stock ***
    Stock Re-order level 5
Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to 0
Show Sold Out Image in place of Add to Cart 0
    Product Quantity Decimals 0
Show Shopping Cart - Delete Checkboxes or Delete Button 3
Show Shopping Cart - Update Cart Button Location 3
Show New Products on empty Shopping Cart Page 1
Show Featured Products on empty Shopping Cart Page 2
Show Special Products on empty Shopping Cart Page 3
Show Upcoming Products on empty Shopping Cart Page 0
Show Notice of Combining Shopping Cart on Login 1

So which one is "turn off all stock messages"? I've already told it to NOT check if the item is in stock, so none of the others should be relevant really.

I didn't even notice the tutorials existed until stumbling across a link to a wiki in a post, as I was looking here in the forum. Clicking "support site" in the script just dumped me on the homepage http://www.zen-cart.com/ I looked at that page and at the bottom it sez:

    "Strong, growing, helpful online community."

So I figured that was the "support site".

Not to mention of course I figured I wouldn't need no stinking tutorial, after it, right there is says "produce it virtual" and I said "Yes". That, on it's own, should have handled it. Shipping? Well it's virtual, so "Always free", there ya go, so where's me upload box...?

Then, after hours of poking at the thing, I decide to pester you peeps on the forum - and as I said, it took awhile before I even noticed the tutorials. Then I see this:

    Important Facts about Download Settings
Downloads are NOT Virtual Products so use:
Product is Virtual: No, Shipping Address Required
Downloads are NOT Always Free Shipping so use:
Always Free Shipping: No, Normal Shipping Rules
Downloads in an order by itself will never see the checkout_shipping page ... if you do then your Product is setup wrong for Downloads

First, downloads, in any other form of human interaction I EVER did here, are indeed "virtual". Secondly, I have set it as best I can and the thing is showing an "estimate shipping costs" button before checking out, so I guess my "setup is wrong" somewhere?

It does say "download" and "zip" as in the tutorial.

    ???

Thanks for the links, will sniff through them...
