    Default Advice for ticket sales

    Hi everyone,
I'm looking at using Zencart for ticket sales for a concert that's held over the weekend every second Easter. There are four separate events at the concert. For two events, tickets are available for adult/child/concession and ticket numbers are open-ended. For the other two, just general tickets are available and numbers are limited. Tickets are snailmailed to purchasers.
I'm a newbie, have installed a couple of Zencarts successfully now, but have not yet used attributes - I am guessing that this is how users would select adult/concession/child?
And the four events would simply be four products?
Can you use attributes for some products but not others?
Can anyone point me at a site using Zencart in this way, or a similar way, already? I've looked through the forums but there's not a lot of information I can see.
    Much obliged, as usual ...
    Jen

Yes, you can use attributes for some products while others don't use them.

I think the different tickets would be different products. The open ended ones don't need to check stock levels (or you can make the stock level some insanely high number).

On the other hand, are tickets limited on the basis of adult/child/concession? If yes, I'd make adult/child/concession the categories and put the tickets as products in those categories.

There's no limit applied to adult/child/concession, it's all bums on seats. In any case, those events where adult/child/concession applies are the events where ticket numbers are unlimited. Yes, I thought I'd just say stock quantity=10,000 or something.
In the case of concessions, we ask for a concession card number - can I add a text box to be filled in, or even better, a text box that only appears if a user adds a quantity to the Concession ticket box?
afo, do you know any sites using zencart for ticket sales?

I don't know of any, but I'm sure they're out there.

You might be able to control the concession number box with attributes, but I can't swear to that. It's been a while since I fooled with attributes and that test site was lost when my old hosting company went out of business without notice.
