Make Subcategories show all the time

I know there are several threads on this topic. I'm trying to get a tree menu workaround that allows sub-categories to be shown all the time without having to select the category. There seems to be alot of fixes for this, but some of them are old and don't seem to work with the latest release of ZenCart.

The most of the recent threads on this topic seem to point to the add-on in this thread: http://www.held-im-ruhestand.de/soft...art-categories.

However, when I click on the link, I am undable to download any useful files and there are no instructions on how to load the add-on. I can download the ch-category.2007-0610.tar file. However, I cannot open it. I keep getting "unkown" file type.

What am I doing wrong? Am I missing something?

Sounds like you need the Categories List Box mod.

It has a bug or two so that not all the features work perfectly, but it broadly works and is compatible with Zen Cart 1.3.8.

Thank you for the fast reply. I've downloaded the Categories List Box Mod, but there are really no instructions for how to install it. The "read me" file doesn't contain details. I've copied all the files into the appropriate places in my cart (after saving original copies...), but I must have copied something in the wrong spot.

Does anyone have instructions on how to install this?

??? This mod doesn't over-ride any files so there are no original files to be saved.

Have you renamed the YOUR_TEMPLATE folders in the modules and templates directories to match your template? Have you enabled the box in Admin > Tools > Layout Box Controller?

I re-installed this and still had no luck. I don't even see Category_List_Box as an option under to select in the Admin "Layout Box Controller"

Does anyone have the original "read me" file instructions. The
"read me" file that downloads only says the following: "Update: if you don't want this sidebox to show on the home page - use the file named category_list_box.php_no_index_page - just change the name to category_list_box.php"

Anyone have the same issues?

Yes, i have the same issue with the Categories List Box Mod.
i work with zencart 1.3.8. and the mod is for 1.3.7. Maybe that explain this.
