I'm not sure why it's pointing to the wrong webroot. It seems like it's seeing "/Applications" as your webroot ... which would certainly cause odd results.
Is there anything from the following discussion that might help? http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96011 It's assuming a clean install with no other webserver tools on the machine, and discusses turning PWS off for ease of implementation.

Yep. That's how it's supposed to happen. Glad you agree that my experience is odd. 'Course, most people would apply that to me...
I have a switcher friend who messes with basic code. I bought her machine, so there could be something screwy inside here. To set this up locally (keep the filename paths the same) I edited the private>etc>hosts file with Terminal and BBEdit to redirect localhost to my domain name (and back again). I did check to make sure it changed back, but I am beyond my competency there:
"##
# Host Database
#
# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
##
127.0.0.1 localhost
255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
::1 localhost

See anything here that would explain this? Thanks again. I really appreciate guys to check the forums on a Sunday evening.
