Hello there,

Great Guide!
Clear & concise.
One problem I'm having is I'm not seeing the zencart Hello page.
what I've done is:
downloaded ipswitches ws_ftp software
installed ws_ftp software
opened ws_ftp software
navigated on the local side to my zencart files extracted
selected all 12 folders & 7 files total 19 objects
on the server side, navigated to the /public_html folder.
created a folder named "catalog" and then opened it
uploaded the 19 files to the catalog directory
it is here that I am stuck. your tutorial says I should now open my browser and point it at my domain. where it should now see the Zencart "Hello" page and thats the problem it doesn't show anything but my index page. obviously I've made some mistake but I cannot see it

well I've gone reading the tutorials on installing zencart and modified the 2 dist-configure.php files to reflect configure.php and 777 permissions.
still don't see the "hello" page for zencart when i aim my browser at my site. doesnt' even work if I aim it directly at the folder/zc install file. http://www.totallyawesomesigns.com/public_html/catalog/
I built my site from scratch and completed it in 9 days so far. never read a lick of html or code ever before. so what is it that i'm not doing right here, or seeing what to do?
http://www.totallyawesomesigns.com/public_html/catalog/ is wrong. Try http://www.totallyawesomesigns.com/catalog/zc_install/
Edit: I just tried it and I'm getting a 404 error (not found). Are you sure that's where you uploaded Zen Cart?

Hi, that is exactly the correct path.
totallyawesomesigns.com/public_html/catalog/zc_install
tried it every way that makes sense w/ and w/o the public_html
I don' t guess it would work to attempt running the zc_install by actually clicking on the file itself in my CP for the site?
Try re-installing. Re-upload all of the files, maybe something is corrupted.

I'll try it! I wil admit that when I intially uploaded the program it was only 12 folders. the files didn't show to upload. also, an extra file loaded up with it it was the "full_file_set" file not zipped just in a folder of its own. so trying to follow the directons on the "step by step" guide I deleted all the files in the catalog directory except for the "full_file_set" and then back to the local side of the ws-ftp I opened the "full_file_set"
and now it looked like the captured image in te hstep by step guide with all 12 folders and 7 files so up they went in to the catalog folder and here we are!
Who is your host? Are you positive they support php files?

they've got php_myadmin and several other options. still getting ready to install or upload i mean again. had to handle one
of my more troublesome employees.
k- so that isn't the problem. What are you using to unzip & upload the files?
