How do I avoid over selling?

Hi all,
I have been discussing this with a few people, but I have not found an answer yet.

I will have a high traffic site, with 100+ people trying to purchase the same 5 items. Does anyone know how I can stop my cart from over selling? I have everything set up properly in the admin. Ajeh thought this might help:
"A Stock queue is something that would need to be designed to pull reduce the Stock, but manage the Stock where if the customer discontinues the completion of the Order, the Stock is made available again, in a timely fashion that would not interfere with the customers checking out nor lose the customer's place in the Stock queue while waiting on a Payment or Shipping process, getting coffee, taking phone calls etc. that prevent the final processes to actually occur ..."

Does anyone have an answer to the over selling issue that has already been written? Can it be done? Over selling is going to be a huge problem for me, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Am I the only one with this problem?
Is there anyone who knows how to write this type of stock queue?

Not sure how I will be able to use my cart if it will over sell every time I offer something - or should I just under-stock my store and hope for the best?

Judging from Ajeh's comment, you're looking at some considerable code writing, which you'll probably have to pay someone to do.

What exactly do you sell?

Yes, I knew I would need to pay for it - just wondering if it is possible and if anyone has done it yet.
I sell infant/kids clothing.

I just figured someone else would have had this problem too and had possibly found a solution for it. Do most people just deal with over selling and either issue refunds or under-stock their stores?
