    Default Remove registration ability

I was wondering if there is a simple way of preventing users from registering on a site. I know this sounds strange, but the users will only be added through the admin. They would register on a sister site and request access to possibly six different sites. Any ideas?

    Hi Misty,

That is what I use now, but it means that I still have to direct the new user to the control site when I receive a notice of registration. The customer has no other means of purchasing as the slave sites are set without a cart (they are demo sites). What I am trying to do is to consolidate the registration by using a control site (master/slave config.) so that the customer only has to register and pay once. Their info is then added to the correct site(s) and they are notified that they can now be accessed.

The bottom line is that no one should to be able to see that screen on the slave sites.

Hope I explained it a little better this time!

So would a one off subscription payment at initial site help
or are different levels of payment involved?

Not sure I am following your question fully...

It is actually based on a per-site fee for x amount of months. It is reduced if multiple ones are accessed and the per-month per-site totals are reduced for longer subscriptions (qty discount mod).

Not sure still understand setup, but was thinking
membership mod from above would save lot
of time and trouble, by installing it on each of your
different sites, with varying amount per site, dependant
on how you wish to use.
Otherwise may have to seek help via Commercial
forum unless another forum member can suggest
    other idea/s

Thanks for your response but that mod was what I was trying to get away from. Multiple carts mean multiple payments which increases the fees paid to PayPal. It also means more PayPal mods to admin and greater bookkeeping headaches. Since there are not any products to purchase, the cart would serve no purpose except to pay the subscription fee.

It looks like I will set up another test site and play with editing the software. Was hoping there was a simple solution but I guess it is not there. Any other suggestions are still appreciated!

    Thanks Misty,

After I added a test site and played with it a while, I found the simplest solution. I changed to the split login screen mode, located the call to activate the create_account.php and removed that button. Just had to edit the tpl_login_default.php and change some text in the english/login.php. You can see the results at www.stampdays.com/test (just click login) if you are interested. I still will use the approval status requirement just in case someone accesses the create_account.php by a direct browser call.

Should have tried that in advance, but then we wouldn't of had this conversation!
