Free Gifts-Dangling Carrot support

Hi,

I have the purchased module of the free gift and since my site was updated I am having issues with it and need some guidance on how to correct the problem please.

When going through checkout on the site if the required amount is reached the free gift shows up so that the customer can select it (below the shopping cart). Once they select the item that they want it is added to the cart but for some reason it adds the retail amount and increases the total of the amount purchased.

It should go into the shopping cart and be for the amount of zero being a free gift.

I have sent an email on the 23/3/16 without getting a reply and that is why I am posting here.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

If you are referring to the one from customscriptz you will need to keep contacting them since their code is different than this module plus it's obfuscated so it can't be edited.

I have just submitted a new version of this excellent plugin for Zen Cart 1.5.5 to the download section.

This version 2.0.0 has been rewritten to be used in Zen Cart 1.5.5 and contains bugfixes and findings and fixes from this thread.
- Bugfixes for auto removing free gifts when threshold is changed in cart, message stack notice added
- Product detail site visible even when the product is configured as deactivated
- When restoring shopping carts after logout and login no freebies are restored to prevent checkouts with more than one freebie
- Bug fixes in installer, changed to auto installer
- Manual updated

Hallo,

I would like to install this module in a v1.3.8 shop. Will this new version still work or is the update now only for 1.5.X versions?

p.s. we are ugrading to v.1.5.6 soon, but for now we need this for our 1.3

The 1.3.8 version has a lot of bugs which were addressed in later versions. Don't use it on a live site unless you have thoroughly tested it to see if you can live with the known issues reported throughout this thread.

Thanks for that info.

Reading a whole thread and trying to make sense of it is difficult and the updated Version (1.5.5) has so many different Folders, it's hard to know what needs installing.


Would it make more sense to install the v1.5.5 on the 1.3.8 or best leave it?

Don't attempt to install the 1.5.5 version to a 1.3.x site. There are a vast amount of core differences between the two versions of zen cart, and a module written for 1.5.5 is most unlikely to work.

hello,
i have a test site that i have installed your dangling carrot plugin in.
I followed the instructions and uploaded the files to their correct places.

From my Admin > Configuration > Tools i can see the FREE GIFTS.

I can click on that but i am unable to add any free gifts to the plugin.

in my catagories i have created a test product that is live and its also marked as free. But i am unable to attach that to my free gift etc.


i am using zencart = latest version.
