    Default problems configuring for new ssl

    I just got my own ssl certificate, and am trying to change my config files to go with it, I had it configured to the shared ssl before and it was working.

    Now I changed the address in the config files to my own, without the www. as the certificate somehow got set for that, and I can't get it to work. When I configure it and turn it on by saying true, and then go click on login or try to go through the cart, it won't go to the https link, it stays with http. Is there something else I'm suppose to change? I didn't think I did before, when I was using the shared ssl.

    I have checked to see if my site shows up when I type https://www.dapperdoxie.com and it does even without the www, so I figured the ssl should be working ok. Just not sure what is going on, and wondered if I was suppose to change the login link myself, or what? I didn't think I did last time, but I could be just not remembering. Isn't turning on the ssl suppose to automatically send the login and checkout pages through the https link?

    This is what I have in my store config file...I did this once with a shared ssl, I should really have been able to do it again with my own. LOL

    define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.dapperdoxie.com');
    define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://dapperdoxie.com');

    // Use secure webserver for checkout procedure?
    define('ENABLE_SSL', 'True');

    btw, I tried it with AND without the www on the 2nd address.

    Any ideas will be greatly appriciated! Thanks
    Deb

    Did you contact your webhost to install your SSL
    cert?

    Yes, they did, and now they are saying that the ssl certificate is just for my domain without the www (although I asked for one with the www) and that I will have to forward my www domain to one without the www. I was wondering if you all think this will work or not. I can get onto my site by typing in https://www. so I don't see how this is going to help, but maybe it will. I'm not up on all that, so don't really know. LOL

    looks like the cert is installed , except its for https://dapper....
    as you can browse to that address fine .

    Make sure you change both Configure files , and that it actually changes on the hsot , some file permissions stop you from saving your file direct to the hosting. so your configure files should be set without the www.

    once done , do you get errors ? or does it just not work at all ?

    I have both configure files changed although I left the www on the http part, and just took that part off the https part. As far as I can tell my site still works fine, except for the fact that when I go to the login or checkout part, it stays with http:// instead of changing over to https://.

    Not sure what else to do, I do have a help ticket in too, but they arn't to good at actually helping me with zencart. LOL Like I said earlier they are saying I need to do a domain forwarding thing...I asked them how and why, but haven't heard back yet.

    Sorry if I am teaching you to suk eggs here , but I have been around in circles where I was uploading files , it said it had done it , but actually jsut ignored it !
    SO For sanity sake , have your copies of your configure files stored and edited correctly locally .. Ftp to site - change file pers to 777 - rename both files to original-configure.php or something like that.
    see if site is working ( should be broke ) upload your 2 new files .. change the permissions to 644 ... lets have alook now !

    My only other clue was that your login link was hard coded .. but don't think so as the link from checkout does the same.

    Good luck .

    I'm sorry, I don't understand what you are saying to do. I'm really kinda new at this, just set this up this summer, and it was my first website that I set up from the ground up.

    Anyway, I've double checked the files through the file manager in cpanel, and they say what they should. So not sure what you are trying to say, think my brain is fried from all this.

    The host help said I had to take the .htaccess file from public_html and put a redirect in it, to redirect my www.dapperdoxie.com address to just dapperdoxie.com, after searching through google to try to figure out how to do this (as they wouldn't help me) I found out, changed it, and while it did redirect my domain to the one without the www, it didn't help my login to find the https side...so I've pretty much got nothing accomplished, and don't have time to do this everyday. I changed it back, because some of my pictures weren't showing up, when I did that too.

    Anyway, if anyone has any other ideas on how to get my ssl to work, I would appriciate it.
