Default "Building" products from different options

I am developing a custom jewelry site for a client, and they want the user to be able to "build" their products step by step from a number of options.

    For instance:
    • Chose from ring, bracelet, earring...etc
    • from there choose gold or silver
    • from there decide if you want to add a stone (crystal, pearl...etc)
    • Do you want to spell your name or a phrase
    • Do you want to chose from a selection of charms to add
    • size

Each category will add a new price to the total until you get to the end. Also, they should be able to "end" at any time past the first level.

I'm a newbie to zencart, so please handle with kid gloves. Thanks in advance!

Yeah that's basically it. Although I don't want all of the options mandatory -- you should be able to skip some if you don't want to add them. How is this done?

Amazing response time with an example btw :)

Thanks, you just add none as an option. Otherwise you don't know if they REALLY wanted to skip the option.

I actually don't know how the whole thing is done. Are all of those options attributes? I've dug around a little to try and figure it out on my own, but couldn't get very far. Are there any resources to point me to that would help me accomplish this method? Thanks agian.

AND now that I look at it a little more, I'd like each option to have its own price that would effect the total. On gomagnetic it's a set price from the start. Is there a way to make each option have it's own price modifier?

Take a walk through the Tutorials/FAQ with a search of Attributes Controller.

Let us know if you need any clarifications.
