help question how to create new css buttons??

I have my cart set up for css buttons.

How do I use the existing ZC css button system to create an equivalent of button_update_cart.gif, which would say 'Update Cart'??

Same question for a css version of small_delete.gif??

Is a standard coding used throughout ZC to generate css buttons with the appropriate file for button text that I can drop into my shopping cart template??

    Thank you, Tom

    Tly,
If I understand you correctly, you have created your own buttons.

    1. includes/ templates/ your_template/ buttons/ english
    2. Here you will find all the .gif images for all buttons
    3. just upload your new add to cart button here
    4. you will find the path if you right click on a button with your mouse and click properties

No, you don't understand me correctly.

I want to create a CSS BUTTON to replace the gif image currently used in the shopping cart for 'add to cart' and 'delete item.'

How do I use the ZC code to make this happen??

    Thank you, Tom

You have to go to admin. There is an option to turn to CSS buttons. Select yes.
Then in your template you must use the stylesheet_css_buttons.css to modify the appearance of the buttons.

If you use English that should do the trick. However if you don't, you may encounter problems becasue Zencart still impose a width to buttons. Because of that button width defined in CSS is not respected.
I'm currently looking for the file or files which add that silly style="width:xnumber;" to the html code for each button.

    hope this will help you.

Unfortunately zen cart does not use the same button functions throughout the script. The buttons you mention indeed are "hardcoded" image buttons. You will have to lookup and modify the core code to change these buttons to CSS buttons.

UHU2, you did not understand my question. paulm has the correct answer.

paulm, thank you for your reply. I like your avatar. :)
Do you know anything about where in the core code I would work on this??

It is very poor development practice for ZC for not converting ALL buttons to be CSS-compatible/capable.
Everything should be done in a very consistent manner.

BTW I was able to create a CSS-based button for 'Delete Item,' if anyone is interested.

    Thank you, Tom

This is also exactly what I need to do but with the update cart button. Could someone please tell me which file/s I need to change to call a css update cart button in the code? (I need to replace the .gif with a css style button.) Thanks.
