Full scale solution or to integrate with Dreamweaver?

So I'm new to Zencart, and I'm trying to fully understand what it's designed for. I am going to build an e-commerce site and my initial plan was to do it in Dreamweaver, until someone mentioned the greatness of Zencart. What I'm trying to gather is:

1) Is Zencart designed to be a full scale e-commerce solution or is it designed to be integrated into a site designed in Dreamweaver.

2) If it's supposed to be a full-scale solution (which is my hunch), how flexible are the design capabilities with Zencart and CSS?

3) If it's supposed to be integrated, is there a document that explains this somewhere?

Zen Cart is a fullservice e-commerce solution it is not designed to integrate "into" a static site as a backend.

As far a design goes - you can do just about anything as long as you are very familiar with CSS and are comfortable editing the template files.
