help question Where to place new file for "register"?

Login template has two things: log in and register.
I wanted to cut register section and make another template named tpl_register.php. I copied and paste:
    Code:
    <a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_LOGIN, '', 'SSL'); ?>"><?php echo HEADER_TITLE_LOGIN; ?></a>
I changed text LOGIN to REGISTER. I put tpl_register.php in custom/templates but when I tried clicking "register", it shows error 404. The address bar shows domain/index?main_page=FILENAME_REGISTER.

I would need FILENAME_REGISTER to be "register". Where can i do that?

I am not sure where to put register file. Please direct me to the correct folders to place register file. I searched through the forum - I think no one uses separate files for login and register.

help will be very much appreciated.

    thanks

Why don't you just "split the login page" via that easy switch in your admin panel?

    ADMIN>>>CONFIGURATION>>>LAYOUT SETTINGS:

    Use split-login page: (True)

This will create separate pages for register and login.

Thanks fairestcape, That's help a little bit. but i wish to have a separate header for Log in and register page. Try to look at one of our zencart member's website www.opensourcedeal.com

When customer click the register button, it shows only the register page. I wish to have something like that.

Anyway your suggestion is good enough. Some of my customers don't know where to register because of the original layout. Thanks for your help

That's a heavily customised template and I imagine they may have hard-coded those hyperlinks.

You could achieve a similar effect with EZPages internal links

One called LOGIN, where the link is:
    /index.php?main_page=login

Another called REGISTER, where the link is:
    index.php?main_page=create_account

(To achieve this, you still need to activate split login)

see: www . edutrade . co . uk . . . . where we have separated login and register in this way using the header EXPages menu.
