Default Stock by attributes - how to use? For me?

    Hello

I have the "Stock by attributes" add-on on v1.3.8a.

I am just confused now on how to use the add-on "stock by attributes". I have seen the wiki file http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.p..._by_Attributes but i still dont understand.

I have this product: StudioTripod and the same product is also sold here in a kit: StudioKits.

So what i want to do is that whenever a customer buys a studiokit, the quantity of the studiotripod is also reduced by one.

The add-on stock by attributes is what i need? The list is empty so i guess i have to add the attributes?

Sorry but i am just confused

    Help is appreciated.

Stock by attributes keeps track of a single product. So if you sell tshirt with different sizes (S,M,L,XL,...) you can set the you have 3 size S, 4 * M and 10 * XL

When someone order S the stock for tshirt size S is reduced noting else.

Standard Zencart can only handle combined stock for all sizes. That why there is this addon.

So i would say its not for your use.

You will need to first create a product.

(Set your main product quantity to 0 when you create your product initially)

    Give it attributes.

Then in the admin section > Catolog > Products with attributes Stock (providing mod is installed and working)

You can find your stock click on Add Quantity For Product Variant then you will be bale to select your attribute and give it a quantiy.

Ie: small 5, medium 3 and so on.

Create a test product and give different attribute values and give it a test. This is only way you will see how it works.
    That wasn't the plan!

But tino.schlegel says this addon is not for me?

Sorry but i havent found anything in the forums.

    Thank you for replying guys.

You would have to list the tripod and the kit as choices in one product to be able to use Stock by Attributes.

Linking stock of two separate products would take new custom coding, and I don't think it is available around here.

Ok Glenn, then i guess the "Stock by attributes" is not for me since i have the tripod as one product and the kit as another product.

But how can i relate the tripod and the kit together so that the quantity in tripod will be reduced when someone buys the kit?

    THanks

That's what I meant about "new custom coding". You will have to find someone who can do this for you if you are not expert in PHP. You might try the Commercial Help Wanted forum here.

I will give it a try with this mod (stock by attributes).

But sorry i just cannot figure out how this works and how to set this up.

I have allready several hundred of products, so Muzz: I dont know what you mean by creating the product first. And the picture i have added in this thread, the list is still empty (when i go to Admin- Catalog- products with attribute stock.

And this "How do I add attributes to my products?" is not of use. i dont have any Admin -> Catalog -> Option Name Manager

If you don't have Admin -> Catalog -> Option Name Manager, there is something wrong with your admin. That is a basic part of it.
