Free digital downloads force registration?

I have digital downloads on my site & some are free. If the user isn't registered though, it forces them to sign up or log in to buy something that is FREE. Is there a way to disable it or a mod somewhere? I don't want to force anyone to register for any purchases ever.

There is a module called COWOA which let you allow customers to checkout without registering, but still they will have to go through the checkout process. If you dont want to have them enter any info then just show the download link directly on the product page.

2 questions:
1. How do I add the download link directly on the product page?

2. If, instead of the direct link on the product page, I wanted to do an ezpage with my digital downloads on it is that possible? The freebies are for everyone so I don't care who downloads them.
