help.. i am having toruble installing & starting zen cart installer

hi, i am having trouble installing zen cart.. i am a novice with limited experience...

i am using windows xp...

I have followed the intructions, i.e installed file zilla and all the other components..

i have transferred the zen cart file into my htdocs onto my web server using file zilla (just dragged and dropped the file into htdocs).

I have followed the instructions changing the access, files names of the zen cart files... in my htdocs folder..

So when it comes to running the installer by following the instructions

Example: http://www.mydomain.com/catalog
- or - to start the installer directly, use: http://www.mydomain.com/catalog/zc_install

just get error pages in the interenet explorer.

If you uploaded the files to your root directory, the installer would be located at yourdomain.com/zc_install

thanks for the reply, i have tried that, i.e www.mydomain.com/htdocs/zc_install
and it says http 404 not found...

I think 'htdocs', 'httpdocs', 'public_html' etc are your root directory.

Did you try yourdomain.com/zc_install

Hi, no i have tried the above i.e

www.mydomain.com/htdocs/zc_installer

and replaced htdocs with your suggestions, however the root folder does appear as htdocs on filezilla....

and just tried domain.com/zc_install

no luck.. still error message.

I am not sure why it is not working... i can see all the zen cart files in htdocs... and it has been uploaded fine.. i havent got a site or anything at the moment - just the domain name... what is wrong?? does anyone know? This is the second installation as the first one was the same...

It says "Directory Listing Denied: This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed."

I think this means that your server is not set up to find a default document i.e. index.php

I would speak to your host.

next problem... i have continued on the installer and found this problem....

also while we are here i am not sure how what the physical path to the htdocs file is...

and for my virtual path... is it simpy mydomain.com/htdocs??
