Are you trying to delete at directory level ?
Try R/Click delete in the files box...

i got evrything deleted and have done evrything right this time but when i try to open up the zc_install my website has the error 404 message.

i think its to do with where my zc install is saved, it needs to be in public_html but it is in:

    /public_html/zen-cart-v1.3.8a-full-fileset-12112007/zc_install,

is this the problem and how do i change it??

I see where you are using filezilla...
    open the zen-cart-v1.3.8a-full-fileset-12112007 folder
Select ALL files and folders there
Drag them to the top folder and drop
This will move them all up one level and you should see the "empty directory" message
navigate up one level and select the now empty zen-cart-v1.3.8a-full-fileset-12112007 folder and delete it
Now all the zencart files are at /public_html

i have tried to move all the files but the admin and images folders will not move because there is already a folder with those names, they dont have the same files in.

    What are they from???
If you want ZenCart at the root of your domain then determine why they are there, what they are doing and move them somewhere else
