Please help no Header logo

Hi,

Please be patient as I an new at this.......Ive been trying to put a logo in the header, if ready every forum for 3 days straight and tries all suggestions.....Ive uploaded my logo, where do I change in the stylesheet.....Ive changes alot and nothing seems to work.......Im so frustrated or am i just stupid???/

I want to get rid of just the text autotrendclassics and put a new header image........

Have you fiddled with any core php files... ?

Such as:

includes/templates/template_default/common/tpl_header.php

In the header there are two possible images:

A background image
A logo image

Take a look at:

includes/languages/english/header.php

and see what filename is given to the logo. You may need to edit this to the filename you have chosen. Also, set all dimensions appropriately.

To change TAGLINE - it's also in this header.php

Ivve tried a bunch of things and hope I didnt mess it all up......what specifically should I be changing?

What exactly is "a bunch of things" ?

Editing the core php needs quite a disciplined approach. You should be sitting with a notepad and pencil and as you make a change, you should be writing down what you do.

And you should know where a backup of the original core file is, so that if you foul things up you know where you can get a restoration file from.

If I look in your Page Source (HTML output), it appears that tpl_header.php has had chunks removed or changed. I suggest you take a look at the original file, and your edited version, and decide what code needs to go back in.

Also, I see that you are probably making changes to core files (in the template_default folders).

You ought to use the over-rides system and there is plenty of help in the FAQ and WIKI on this subject.

Ive also changes it in the header.php, maybe ive uploaded in the wrong place......is that possible? or is it possible just to recode it

Ah... so it's clear to me that you are unsure of what the code does... I recommend you resist the temptation to chisel away at the code until you understand it a little better.

Restore the ORIGINAL tpl_header.php file to its default location, then let's try again...
