    Default Problem Connecting To Database

We had trouble with our web hoster the other day and now our store won't work. I know our hoster lost emails and now I'm wondering if they messed up the store.

All I get when I try to go to the store is a page (nddbc.html) that says:
    Sorry!
There seems to be a problem connecting to our database. Please give us a few minutes to remedy the problem. Thank you.

I can't seem to figure out why this is coming up and what the problem could be. I know I'm not an expert but I just can't find the problem and can't get the store back up.

    Any ideas? Please, pretty please.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

    Jeff,
Did you check the two configure.php files

    1. includes/ configure.php
    2. admin/ includes/ configure.php

I did. And I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. All the information seemed to be correct. I can go into cpanel and look at the database, so I know it's not corrupt. I just won't connect for some reason.

    hardo, thanks for responding.

That appears when one or more of the following situations occurs:
    a) database details in the /includes/configure.php file point to wrong database, or username, or password
    b) attempts to connect to the database fail with an error
    c) database is corrupt and needs repair

Perhaps someone changed your database password and/or username recently?
Maybe creating a new username+password and granting appropriate privileges to it, and setting that new username+password in your configure.php files might help?

I think that is a good idea. But I noticed in the configure.php file that the password seems to be encrypted. How would I enter a new password into the config file?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

The password in the configure.php file is *not* encrypted. It's plain-text, and must match exactly whatever password you've set for the database user you enter there.

Then that may be the problem! Because the pw looks like a bunch of junk.

I'll try it out and let you know.

    Thanks,

Thanks Dr Byte, had posted about this same thing a while ago (didn't find this post then) but changing pass and editing configure files seemed to do the trick
