help question Am I the only one losing business because IE7 will not access PayPal Standard(iframe)

I have two commercial ecommerce sites (one running Zen Cart 1.3.8a with Database Patch Level: 1.3.8, fresh install, at http://www.benefizz.co.uk; the other running ZenCart 1.3.7 with Database Patch Level 1.3.7, fresh install, at http://www.bsmd.co.uk), and neither of them can successfully sell to anyone using Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) running on a PC running Vista if they elect to pay using the Checkout Process and 'PayPal Payments Standard with IPN'.

A thread in this Forum: "Paypal firefox and IE -- what gives?" (9th October 2008 04:30 AM by gtpguy) raises the same problem but does not have an answer

I have personally checked on a couple of machines as well as getting several customers to also check - this is an IE7 issue as it is always possible, when unable to access the PayPal checkout using IE7, to complete the deal (access PayPal) using Firefox on the same machine (Opera and Safari also work perfectly).

    • Firstly, I love to know if it's something I've inadvertently done that's caused the problem?
    • Secondly, I want to know if I'm alone in having this problem?

I raised a Ticket with PayPal Merchant Technical Services giving the information that I posted here and this is the relevant part of their response:
"Out of the list of browsers that you mentioned and after testing you see that all but 1 work shows that the issue is with the single browser that is not working - IE 7 on Vista. The browser itself may have a setting that is causing it to not work or it may simply be the browser and how it was coded. The fact that every other browser you tried works fine, shows that the problem is not on the PayPal end."

In other words, it's not their problem! I know it's my problem - is it yours too?

If you can, please would you check that your carts that are using PayPal (Payments Standard not Payment Pro) either don't have this problem - in which case please PM me or post here to tell me it's down to me and my code - or that they do, in which case I believe we really need to know that as, if that's the case, we are all potentially losing money!

(Please pardon my use of bold print to emphasise my points, I'm just feeling very stressed! )

I'll try the benefizz.co.uk site with Classic but the other one (http://www.bsmd.co.uk/shop.html) is using Classic... ?

The link you originally posted is not the link to your Zen Cart, it is the link to the HTML home page.

You are running Zen Cart inside an iFrame, and this has been reported to cause problems; your IE7 problem is likely related to this.

Glenn you're 'on the money' rearranging my site so that ZenCart runs in a 'normal' window rather than the iFrame did the trick. Many thanks!

[I did check to see what would happen using IE8 before I changed the structure and that worked fine despite the iFrames - interesting.]
