Proper Location For Modules/pages Customization?

I'm making changes to

includes/modules/pages/product_info/vim main_template_vars_attributes.php

but I'm not sure where to put the custom copy (my template is called "custom").

I've tried

includes/modules/custom/pages/product_info
includes/modules/pages/custom/product_info
includes/modules/pages/product_info/custom

and none of them seem to work. Has anyone done this?

Now I've only copied that one file - not the others. Is that
the problem?

As far as I am aware, there is no override system for the modules/pages folder. I jsut create backups of originals and then over-write the original directly.

Thanks, guys. I&#39;m keeping the originals as <filename>.orig so I can easily look for .orig files in the hierarchy to see what I&#39;ve changed that&#39;s outside of the "custom" folder hierarchy.
