I'm not sure if this is possible but I'd like to set up a store that has a catalog section (no add to cart button) and a normal shopping cart. I want to divide this functionality by catagory, ie all products in category A have no add to cart button and all products in category B do.
Any suggestions?

very simple to achieve - just create a new product type (clone the standard type) and set it so that product type can't be added to the cart.
