Category as product - or other ideas please

Hello,

I have a clothing site and i want to be able to list products on another product page.

I added a screen shot from another store that has what i want

i thought about using a sub-cat as the product and then products as the "sub-products" but the prob is i get an error that the category name cannot be longer the 32char long

any ideas?

It is not clear what you are trying to do.

"Categories" do not enable essential features, such as Add To Cart, so you will have to set things up as products anyway.

i really dont know how to fully explain - other then i want to be able to use a subcat as kinda of shell for products

i guess what i really need is:

i do updates from easypopulate - but it says category cannot be over 32 char - how do i make that limit longer

and

is there any way to have the side box only show one sub cat not 2 etc

ex:

cat1
- sub 1
- sub sub1 (dont want showing)
cat2
- sub 2
