    Default Shipping rate variables

My client has three different products for sale. Two products weigh the same (8 oz.) while the third weighs 3 lbs.

She wants to charge a table rate for the first two products. Shipping quantities of the first two items results in a table rate of 1-2 units=$5.95, 3-4:=$6.95, etc. The third product is a flat rate of $7.95 for 1 unit. So, shipping costs for one is $7.95, shipping costs for 2 is $15.90, etc.

I don't have a lot of time to figure this out, but I haven't seen any tutorials/postings/3rd party add-ons that address this shipping issue. I'm using the current version of Zen Cart.

I'm really doing this as a favor for the client; she's a neighbor running a business from her own home and doesn't have a huge budget. In fact, I barter my time with her husband, who provides handyman/home maintenance services. Thus, any solution has to be inexpensive. There's the challenge...

I would appreciate any assistance or recommendations. Thanks!

Do you have the Table Rate table shipping module working properly for the 2 products?

And I am assuming you are doing this with the Item Count for the Table Rate?

If so, you could check how many Products are in the order for the 1 Product and subtract that count from the Item Count for the right number to charge for the 2 Products ...

Then, you could take that number and multiple it by the 7.95 and add it to the amount calculated for the 2 Products ...

This would give you the Shipping Costs for the 2 Products as calculated by the Table Rate (item count minus the item count of the 3rd Product) and the Shipping Cost for the 3rd Product multiplied by the 7.95 and add that to the Table Rate calculation ...

    Does that make sense?

    Ajeh-

Thanks for your quick reply! I appreciate the feedback. Sometimes, you've pounded your head on a problem too much and need a fresh perspective.

I will take a look at your recommendation.

    Thanks again!
