    Default sitemap.xml and robots.txt

I've been doing some reading, and would like to add sitemap.xml to my page (to help with search engine optimization)...

to do that i need to add a line to my robots.txt file... i don't think one came with it, but i am pretty sure there is a place in ZenCart which handles whatever it is that robots.txt does...

anyone has any idea where i would go to add a line to this file?

Zen Cart does not create sitemap.xml files, nor robots.txt files.
You'll have to create your own robots.txt file, add that line to it, and upload it to your website using your favorite FTP program.

There's an add-on that will create the sitemap.xml file for you: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=544

I have zencart 1.3.9h. The sitemap code module you speak of is Zen Cart™ Version: v1.3.8 can I use it or should I backup and pray?

You can use it , and it works in 1.39h just fine.
Always backup when trying something new.

There are many free Sitemap makers online.

Why install another module that could possibly break your cart with one installation mishap?

    I found this site:
    xml-sitemaps.com

I made a Sitemap and uploaded it to my root folder.

The sitemap generators in the free add-ons are configured to take advantage of certain features in zc. They can also be configured to automatically update the sitemaps and submit them to the SE's.

Nothing wrong with using external sitemap generators. Some limit their output to a certain number of pages.
