One category + 10 Items = Free shipping?

Hi all,

I am trying to figure out how to set it up to give free shipping to only a certain number of items purchased from one category.

Example: Purchasing 5 or more books will give free shipping. But purchasing 4 books will not give free shipping.

I am running Zen Cart 1.3.8a
Database Patch Level: 1.3.8

My shipping mods enabled are Free shipping, UPS and USPS

You need a broader explanation as to what you want ...

I order 3 books from one category and 6 from another ... do I get Free Shipping because I have 9 books? Do I get Free Shipping because I have 6 in the one Category? Do I get Free Shipping on the 6 from the 2nd Category but pay for shipping on the 3 Books from the 1st Category?

You description is a bit too vague ...

I want to give free shipping on orders of 5 or more books only.
If a customer has ordered 5 books from any category they get free shipping on that order.
However if a customer orders 5 books and two shirts, they will have to pay shipping on the shirts, or if they order less than 5 books they pay shipping.

That would require some customization to be able to include or exclude the weight of the books for the shipping when the books are more than 5 ...

Now is that 5 books from any of 12 categories or 5 books from categories_id 3 gets free shipping but if I also order 2 more books from categories_id 27, are those 2 additional books free or do I need 5 from the second category to get the free shipping on all 7 books?
