    Default XAMPP Ports in use

During the installation of xampp, I received the following error: "Port 80 or 443 (SSL) already in use! Installing Apache 2.2 service failed".

I had installed xampp a few times without any problem but this was before I formatted my HDD. I don't have IIS running nor Skype or something similar. I checked those ports with xampp-portcheck.exe utility but it says they are all free. I have to open the xampp control panel and manually start apache but I want it start with the windows. Any suggestion appreciated.

This seems more like an operating system issue. Perhaps you can try this:

    1. Check that port 80 and 443 are clear.
    2. Start your XAMPP Control Panel.
    3. Click the Svc checkbox to install the Apache service.

If the above steps still don't work, you might want to consider posting your question to the XAMPP forums instead as your issue relates more to XAMPP then Zen Cart installation.

Thank you for your reply. I suspected that security software in my computer could be the main cause of the issue. So I uninstalled the firewall and AV and then re-installed XAMPP again. Now it seems to be OK, Apache starts with the windows. Apparently, it was one of those two guys blocking the port 80.

Again, thank you for your support.
