Login Not working from home page. but works from others

Ok never seen this one before.
I have a site that is not running on a server that I have root for so I cant look at its nuts and bolts as closely as I would like but here is the deal.
This started happening when I installed the SSL cert onto the site
If I go to the site and then from the home page click on login. fill in my details hit submit it does not log me in. I just get the "Welcome guest" message.
How ever if I click on a product and then go to login from there. it works fine.
Any Ideas?

What happens if you:

Go to site ...

Click on Home ...

Click on Home ...

Click on Login ...

Do you get logged in?

Start at the basics ... could you post, from the server, without the username and password, the file:
/includes/configure.php

Let's make sure that there isn't anything moofy in there ...
