Paypal IPN orders not showing

My problem is similar:

I am using ZenCart 1.3.8a and have turned on debugging. I get all of the following messages when that I make a purchase:

It looks like you've got a non-email-address entered in your PayPal account settings in Zen Cart.

I was able to get everything to function, but I am VERY concerned about security.

First of all, how much encryption is required? I had to turn off a PayPal setting called "Block Non-encrypted Website Payment" in order to have my purchased items show up in ZenCart. I am using PayPal encrypted buttons, which are supposed to help with help the aforementioned encryption setting turned to on.

According to PayPal, ZenCart's shopping cart is secure. Should I rely on other methods of security?

Zen Cart doesn't support the use of 'encrypted buttons' in PayPal.
Is there a very specific reason why you were enabling that option? Or were you just enabling it because it "sounded good"?

If you need to have the 'encrypted buttons' option turned on for a particular reason, then you'll not be able to use the PayPal Website Payments Standard module in Zen Cart. However, you'll be fine with Express Checkout instead, since it doesn't use the PayPal buttons technology for initiating transactions (Express Checkout is actually more reliable anyway).
