Anyway to add a true sku# to an item...

Anyway to add a true sku# to an item and not have it show to the public? I would like to include my true sku#'s in my [New Order] confirmations, but not have the customer see them. My true sku#'s could be used by the competition to order parts for the customer without putting in all the work to find them like I did! I have been using fake sku's to circumvent this, but it is a nightmare to keep track of! Here is the meat and potatoes of what I am asking:

Customer orders item model number: 100

I get the [New Order] confirmation for item: 100 (sku# 55GC29303) but the customer never see's the sku#

Thanks for the link. Interesting addon, but I can't seem to get it to do what I need. It is also unsupported by the author.

I can stick with my current system, but I have to maintain a spreadsheet of item numbers=actual part numbers. Time consuming, but somewhat effective! LOL

As this adds some stuff to the DB to hold these SKU's - did you find and apply the sql for it?

Yes I did, but I removed it after testing. I wanted it to include the sku's in the order confirmation email so we could pull the parts a lot easier after the order comes in. This mod doesn't seem to do that.

There is another that in conjunction with the other places on the paacking slip - would have to modify the order confirmation mail similarly
