Default Authorize.net, POWWEB and setting it up without SSL?

I'm setting my authorize.net payment flow for a client who's hosted on POWWEB. Good news is they support cURL which they didn't always do. Problem is they don't offer SSL certificates on their platform which is really odd. I would think all hosts do. So can I still make an authorize.net connection just with cURL?

You can use Authorize.net AIM if you have CURL, but you still need SSL to protect the transaction processing.

If you absolutely have no way of getting SSL support, you should really look at another host. But in the meantime you can use Authorize.net SIM module. It's somewhat less secure, and breaks up the customer's shopping experience, but it doesn't require SSL support before being able to accept CC data.

You should STILL always have SSL to protect your customers' private details (address, phone, email, etc) even if you don't need it to protect financial data (credit card) when using an off-site payment service such as SIM offers.
