Gift Cert. Module displays on payment page for non Gift Cert. Holders

I'd like to hide the gift certificate module on my payment page if a customer doesn't have a gift certificate. It displays above my coupon module for ALL my customers. I would only like it to show up only for customers that actually have a gift certificate to use.

Does anybody else have this problem? I find it odd that there are no questions posted in the forum about this... any ideas how to fix?

You can do this by quering the database, and if a record is found, then show, else do nothing. However, what happens if I decide to buy 3 gift certificates for my family for your store, and then just send the codes to my family by email? Now they create an account, and try to log out, but because the gift certs are assigned to me, they aren't given the option to redeem them. Now what do I do?
