strange problem blanks part of the shop page ... need help!

Hi, I have a very strange problem on my online-shop (Zen Cart 1.3.8a). It has been running fine for a while but now I get this problem:

After adding a new product, the whole category that contains this product does not show any products. Being more precise, the shop-page is blank right after the categories header, i.e. the shop-header and the left column is in place, but the main page and the right column is blank. you can see it here: http://water-sports.de/index.php?mai...x&cPath=68_262

I turned on the on-site debug-mode, but there are no error messages. then I checked the cache folder for debug messages and apparently there are some issues when adding new products with the image handler, cause it shows the error: PHP Warning: ereg_replace() [<a href='function.ereg-replace'>function.ereg-replace</a>]: REG_EMPTY in /www/htdocs/xxxxx/includes/modules/additional_images.php on line 46

the strange thing is: I have not changed any code, and the server has not been changed either. any ideas? I appreciate your help!

The page of which you provided the link is indeed blanked out from where I sit (using Firefox 3).

My suggestion is to start with HTML validation, eliminating all errors.

I ran HTML validation on one of your pages and noticed 188 errors and 106 warnings. This could spell trouble...

Once your pages are error-free (properly closed div, form, etc.), it make sense to explore elsewhere (if the problem still exists).

thanks for the link, tried that already. the weird thing is, that this problem only occurs with some products (and categories that contain them), therefore i cannot imagine it being caused because of invalid html, either.

whenever i remove the product image, it works


any further ideas?

I checked the debug logs again, and the only thing thats in there is: PHP Warning: ereg_replace() [<a href='function.ereg-replace'>function.ereg-replace</a>]: REG_EMPTY in /www/htdocs/xxxxxx/shop/includes/modules/additional_images.php on line 46

but there is not only one entry but hundreds (with the same time stamp).

I really have no clue at all what the problem is. any suggestions?

This is most likely something in 2 of your Products ...

Go to this URL:
index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=68_262&products_id=1863

Notice how that Category works on that products_id?

Click the Next button ...

Notice how things still work?

Click the Next button ... boom!

Page is broken ... something on that product is breaking things ...

NOTE: don't get too excited yet ... products_id 1865 and 1866 appear to both be broken ...

Most likely something in the Description is bad ...

What size (kb) is the image?
You are using IH so it could be that IH (really GD libraries or ImageMagick) is timing out and creating a corrupt file.
Also having spaces in the file name and mixing JPG, jpg, PNG, png can cause issues.
A corrupt image will stop the page from loading.

thanks for you help... I tried the following (particular on product_id 1865):

- deleted the product description
- checked the image size (12KB)
- checked the filename for spaces etc. (rtp.jpg)
- used another product image that works with another product.

but it has all not changed a thing. The page is still partly blank. I start thinking that this might be some sort of bigger problem. again, your help is appreciated. i am totally clueless!

If you could grab the Debug Tool in the Free Software Add Ons ... it will probably help point out the problem on this ...
