I thought that simple seo was working correctly ... in that all my webpages are showing as friendly urls ie.
    https://www.tidytoys.co.uk/anna-club...nna-club-plush

Its just that the canonical link is wrong and that every entry in the sitemap isn't reflecting the seo friendly urls.

I see now, being used to CEON URI Mapping and not knowing about Simple SEO, I was looking at the hyperlinks - which are not rewritten, the rewrite only seems to take place once the link is visited.

    Hi Guys

So it's been 8 weeks now and google is still not listing my pages.

I have now built a test site and starting from scratch.
    I have installed :
    CK Editor
    Easy Populate
    Pure CSS Mega
    RFQ
    SitemapXML

On the original site I installed all of the above as well as Ultimate URL's which I could not get to work.
I will stay clear of this plugin as after much research have come to the conclusion it is not necessary.
Either a DB issue or a conflict with SitemapXML

I also added a SSL certificate.

    Zen is 1.5.6c

So everything is working well in the test site and I have created the sitemap.
An interesting thing that I noticed is that the sitemapXML generated in my original site is slightly different to my TESTSHOP site

    The difference is the "www."

Now I am unsure exactly what settings need to be changed in the sitemap XML configuration so I have left them unchanged

So I followed the instructions and this is my robot.txt file

    Sitemap: https://www.gotitall.co.za/sitemap.xml

    User-Agent: *

    Allow: /

Note it is https and has the www.
I would like to add my SHOPTEST site and would like to know if I can add it to the same robot.txt file found in my root ?

    So like this :

    Sitemap: https://www.gotitall.co.za/sitemap.xml
    Sitemap: http://gotitall.co.za/SHOPTEST/zen-c...19/sitemap.xml

    User-Agent: *

    Allow: /

Also I would like to know why one has http vs https and why the one has www. and the other doesn't.
Could this be why Google has not been listing my products ?

    site:www.gotitall.co.za
    site:gotitall.co.za

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you added the site to Google Search Console?

Also it would be beneficial if you put a link to the top level sitemap file in your footer with the following piece of code. When google reads your site it will find the link and read your sitemap files. From there it should index the files.

    HTML Code:
    <a href="https://www.gotitall.co.za/sitemap.xml" title="Go IT All Sitemap">Sitemap</a>

Since the original author is sadly deceased and his master Github in disuse, would one of the Github forkees consider designating their fork as the new master, for clarity and ease of submissions?

    FYI Cron job memory exhausted

When running this from the Admin, it produced three categories files. No problem.
When running this via a cron job, it produced two categories files but died partway through creating the third with out of memory error.
The solution was a php.ini file in the cgi-bin folder and making sure the cron used it
    /usr/local/bin/ea-php73 -c /home/SHOP_PATH/cgi-bin/php.ini -q /home/SHOP_PATH/cgi-bin/sitemapxml.php
    rebuild=yes

    • technically, it does not run from the admin. you are calling a link from the admin that anyone can call
    • if that link works, i would suggest using wget to call the same link through a cronjob
    • having a custom php.ini for use with this one script seems, i don't know.... like a maintenance nightware down the road.
    • explicitly needing to call where your php7.3 binary is, seems like a sysadmin nightmare as well. and no guarantee that other servers will have the php bin in the same place. for example:
      Code:
      v156: # php -v
      PHP 7.4.7 (cli) (built: Jun 12 2020 07:47:45) ( NTS )
      Copyright (c) The PHP Group
Zend Engine v3.4.0, Copyright (c) Zend Technologies
with Zend OPcache v7.4.7, Copyright (c), by Zend Technologies
      v156: # which php
      /usr/bin/php
      v156: #

If your server is using PHP-FPM it's entirely common for the CLI (command line) to use a different configuration than the web FPM process. If your CLI isn't configured for enough memory, work with the server admin to increase it in the CLI config.
