Default Importing Customer Accounts from 1.3.7 - 1.3.8

    Hi There
I have recently built a fresh 1.3.8 site and now I need to import my live customer accounts (and their details) over into the 1.3.8 db.

Now I have backed up and copied the live 1.3.7 db and run an upgrade on this to bring it in line with 1.3.8.

How do I import customer account and login details into the new 1.3.8 site as we have over 5000 customers and I obviously don't want them to have to create a new account when they visit the new version of the site.

In particular what db fields do I need to import through MySql.

    Many Thanks in advance

It doesn't work that way. When you upgrade your 1.3.7 database to 1.3.8 you will simply use that same database. Nothing really changes for your customers and no importing of customers details are needed. There are a few altered tables and a few new ones for added features and bug & security fixes.

    Hi Qdixon
    Thanks for the reply!

Is there any way at all that I can import the customer accounts from the live 1.3.7a into my new fresh 1.3.8a version?

The reason being is that I have built a new site from scratch as the live site at present does not use template overrides etc and the site got quite messy. The new test site has new products and info and features etc - I just need to get the customer details over into this site so they dont have to create a new account when they visit the new site when it goes live - (next week - eeek!)

    Thanks

It is much easier to upgrade what you have rather than transfer data.

Customer data is linked to a few other tables for account info like purchases etc. Don't get me wrong it can be done...but that can cascade into a mess.

Template overrides wont change anything in the database...only the override or template name that it is using and that can be changed of course.

What I would do it open the admins side by side and just run though the settings matching them if that is the worry.
