    help question Creating products to be ordered in bulk (i.e. by weight)

    I've just installed and configured my shiny new ZenCart site but immediately realised I've forgotten to check a very critical part of the system... ordering items by bulk.

    For example we sell coffees and whatnot, I'd like someone to be able to order 1.5Kg of Blue Mountain Coffee (we'll weigh and package it up ourselves when we get the order), but I can't seem to order 1.5 of anything (it rounds to 2). I've trawled the forums, FAQs etc. trying to find a solution but I don't see one. I expect there's either a quick way of doing this, or a mod already been made, or I'll have to go through the code and edit it to support ordering fractions of an item. I'm hoping it's the first two.

    Does anyone have a solution for this sort of problem, allowing products to be ordered in bulk? I don't really want to put up items per gram and have them order some number of grams.

    Thanks in advance

    Check the Configuration ... Stock ... for the setting:
    Product Quantity Decimals
    Allow how many decimals on Quantity

    0= off

    Thanks.... but that doesn't seem to affect the checkout, it still attempts to round it and shows a yellow message which is a little offputting. The prices seem right which is strange... maybe I just need to turn off some rounding somewhere?

    Have you an URL to one of these Products that we could perhaps peek at to see what might be up?

    Sure mate

    It's just a dummy product, but if you try to order 1.5 of it, it'll take you to checkout with an error message. In the cart it gets rounded to 2, but the total at the top and bottom seem to reflect an accurate price (i.e. 1.5 times one item).

    Check your Units ... you have a Minimum of .05 but what are your Units set to?

    Aha! For some reason I had thought units meant something like kg (and it kept defaulting to 0), not increments you could order in. I created a product with units of 0.001 and now you can order any weight! Perfect!

    Thanks for your help Ajeh, this is brilliant.
