Default Is there a way to create new email 'templates' to send to customers?

I hope I don't sound toooo 'newbie' (though that's what I still am...).

Is there a way to create email templates for customers in Zen Cart. For instance, instead of only a drop down menu for email recipients, is there the ability to have a drop down menu for type of email - in my case, I would like a "your order has been posted", "your Paypal echeque has cleared", "Happy Birthday" etc. etc.

So instead of having to type out a new email each time, with different info. for each customer, if I click on the email type, that customer's details will automatically be inserted in the address field, name field, DOB field etc. (similar to the way emails can be set up and sent in ebay..)

This may be way beyond my level of expertise, but I have looked through the threads and couldn't find any qu. similar.

Once again, any and all help much appreciated (even if it's a 'your dreamin'!)

Well, the system already sends messages like "your order has been posted" when the order is completed; and PayPal already tells the customer when their echeck clears.
If you want to send a "Happy Birthday" message, you'll have to build that functionality yourself. Perhaps use the built-in newsletter feature, which allows you to create messages which can be sent again and again to different audiences.

Thank you very much for that DR Byte - you are all knowing!

I didn't actually realise that an email was automatically sent to the customer when I clicked order completed.

I'll have a look around and see if I can amend the email to my standard one.

I'll also practice with the newsletter - still deciding how I'll best use this.

    Cheers...
