How To Agile Carousel HTML-only Slideshow of Featured Products?

Hi. I want to create a slideshow of my featured products. Each pane of the slideshow needs to be a stripped-down HTML version of the product info page. For example, it will have the product thumbnail, title, price, description and "more info" link all in a tidy bit of HTML (not an image slideshow).

So I have the Agile Carousel slideshow installed and working... Yet I am trying to figure out how to extract the featured products from ZenCart and format them in my own tidy HTML-only way.

The Agile Carousel uses a make_slides.php script to scan a directory for HTML files and simply file_get_contents them into the slideshow area. I have customized this make_slides.php to iterate over my own hand-coded featured products array... but I want this to be dynamically loaded from Zencart's featured product database!

I'm guessing I need to create a simple module for this... but how do I go about this??

Here's the psuedocode of what I am guessing a customized dynamic make_slides.php (in the same directory as zencart's index.php):

// include application top?
// somehow get an array of featured products & their details
// loop over featured products {
    // echo product thumbnail, title, price, description, link
    // }
// include application bottom? 

Is this how its supposed to work?? How do I go about implementing this? Any help is MUCH appreciated!!

Hi! Did you find a solution yet? seems to be an interesting idea.

Wouldn`t it be the easiest if you alter the
includes/modules/YOUR_Template/featured_products.php and put the code for the carousel in this file instead of creating a new module?
If you found a solution already please share :)

I would like somthing like this too. I purchased a module to do it, but it does not show the price and discount information. That sux.

You might be able to do it in html and javascript and simply point your main page to the html script file. That might be one way.
