PayPal UK Problems with Maestro cards and Issue No.

Hi,

i've recently set up paypal payment flow UK on my website and I am having problems accepting maestro cards and possibly other debit cards.

I believe the problem is due to the issue number, as when going through checkout there is a field asking for "maestro issue no.". As maestro card does not have an issue number the order does not go through, and the following error comes up:
ALERT: PayPal Direct Payment Error (7 <!-- Field format error: CARDSTART or CARDISSUE must be present -->)

As a test I wrote "01" in the maestro issue number field (even though my card does not have an issue number) and the order went through perfectly. Hence, as a solution, can someone suggest a way of adding the following condition to the code: If the issue number is not present, then write 01 in this field.

Also, is there a way of unblocking the "start date" field, as this is not clickable.
